Generosity Policy

Sonora Meditation Group is committed to making the Shambhala teachings available to as many people as possible. We are sustained by the financial contributions of our program participants, members and friends. Program fees, members’ dues and donations provide for our monthly expenses, practice and study materials, teacher expenses, and hospitality for our programs.

We encourage a financial commitment for each person to their Shambhala path and practice, and we recognize that we all have financial circumstances to balance in our lives. We therefore extend a “generosity policy” that asks each person to give what they can when participating in any of our programs or for their membership. For example, if you can pay the full tuition for a program, this is most helpful; if you can’t, offer what you can, no questions asked. Perhaps at another time you can offer more or create a value exchange of some kind. No one will ever be turned away for a financial reason!

What is most important to us is that you receive the teachings and cultivate a practice that is right for you. Please don’t hesitate to talk with a Council member if you have any questions or concerns.  Thank you.
